Long gone are those days when businesses were only able to attract customers through advertisements in newspapers or television While word of mouth still helps to improve sales, now there is a new frontier which business have to embrace if they want to not only increase their clientele but remain competitive as a whole. And that new force at play is the social media.
The last few years have seen the rise of social media and now it has become something that just can’t be ignored. The reason for that is probably that it can be accessed from anywhere; even a company based in USA can connect with a customer that is halfway around the world. While this is beneficial for both the customers and the businesses, businesses now have to deal with something that they didn’t even think about just a few short years ago.
If you are an owner of a small business or your are the head of social media engagement at your company then you need to know that how you can put this wonderful technology to good use. All you have to do is to keep a few points in mind. If you are interested in finding out those points then just read on.
Choose what platform suits you the best
You may be tempted by the idea of jumping on every social media platform there is and creating as many accounts as possible but this is not a sound strategy by any means. You need to keep a couple of things in mind: first, you need to know that which platform the majority of your user base uses and second, how much resources do you have at hand. Making a account and never engaging customers or clients through it sends even a worse impression than having no social media account at all. Similarly, creating an account on a platform that a small portion of your clientele uses isn’t a good idea either.
Have a clear idea what you want to use it for
Social media marketing or engagement can literally be used for tons of purposes. That is why you need to devise a clear plan of how you are going to use it. You can either use it to direct traffic to your own website by sharing the links to the products on your site. Or you can use it to share discount codes for products. You can also use it to hold competitions and give out free stuff. However, the main purpose remains the same: you need to increase your profits and the bottom line of your earnings.
Content is important too
You may think that all you need to put on the social media are the links to your best deals but that course of action just spells trouble. Sure, you will momentarily increase your sales but after a while people will tune out. They need to be engaged and if the only that is being posted are deals then that can’t happen.
You can post a lot of things that will help the user engagement; you can post a video of behind-the-scenes or you can ask your followers to share their experience regarding your products or services. The key is to make sure that the people are listening and responding.
You also need to plan the content that you are going to post in advance. It is a good strategy to have at least a week of such content planned in advance.
Develop a brand image
You also need to have a brand image for your company or business which you can project across all the social media platforms. Remember: each social media platform is different and offers its own unique feature so your brand image should be flexible enough that it not only takes advantage of all those features but still remains the same at its core.
